Job Overview

This position is responsible for administering solutions for systems using network, server, storage, and computing platforms including of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Cloud architectures.

Administer the core of the IT infrastructure. Implement enhancements (hardware and software) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

Install various platforms including operating systems, applications, and possibly databases. Install, modify, monitor, and support operating systems, enterprise application integration (EAI), SOA, databases, utilities, internal networks, telecommunications, data communication systems, video conferencing, phone systems, call center technologies, and Internet / intranet related tools.

Conduct system programming and system support activities such as new or revised program language codes, processing routines and report generators.

Perform configurations and support / troubleshoot problems. Perform backup operations, ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

Work on problems of moderate scope.

Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are varied. Independent judgment and decision-making are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor enterprise application integration (EAI), service oriented architecture (SOA), system, server, application, and network performance following operator and control instructions.
  • Maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release.
  • Modify, maintain, and update software and hardware. Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security and compliance.
  • Manage the load of configuration of platforms and systems and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
  • Provide daily operations analysis, support, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems, hardware, and software. Monitor proactively to provide stable, dependable services.
  • Execute operational jobs and activities to successful completion.

  • Participate as a project team member and work on project implementations.
  • Implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
  • During times of emergencies, outages and project planned work; be on call and available until the event is addressed. During system conversions, extra effort may be required in order to ensure the roll out of the system is successful.

  • Planning

  • Strive to align the release schedule with the iteration plans to be able to deliver the functionality faster and at shorter intervals to realize the benefits achieved through Agile.
  • Provide dependency inputs on infrastructure providers and system integrators in daily standups and iteration plans. Build service brokers to manage lifecycle of external resources and make them available to pivotal applications.

    Participate throughout the vision , epic and release timeline planning. Collaborate with Product Owners and the development team to brainstorm, break down epics, and document the functional requirements.

    Interact with development teams to demonstrate the operational-related features of the solution during iteration review meetings.

    Execution

  • Engage in the development cycle to weave operational-related aspects in the definition of done. Continuously engage with the development team throughout the lifecycle of solution development.
  • Create new build packs for the platform and implement enhancements as needed. Continuously integrate modified software into the code base.

    Employ automated tools that significantly reduce the time and effort required to deploy software into production. Foster delivery by infrastructure as code or infrastructure as a service, which automates the delivery, configuration, and deployment of computing environments.

  • Understand and generate user insights; act as the voice of the user in all interactions.
  • Be conscious of recognized user experience (UX) methods in the creation of well-designed user experiences for the company's solutions / services.

    Business travel of approximately 10 or less percent yearly is expected for this position.

    Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a related field.

    Work Experience

    Typically 2 or more years of related professional experience.

  • Understand company policies and procedures which are used as a guideline to resolve issues.
  • Knowledge and experience with one technology / language / application (e.g., VmWare Virtualisation, ATM, MPLS, Wireless, IPV6, SSL, IDM, Java, security suites, automated network configuration, SAP, C++, Java, XML, Windows, Linux, Unix, EAI, Middleware, SOA) method, and expanding to become fully versed on all including emerging technologies, methods, and design considerations.
  • Certifications

  • Preferably begin to achieve primary level of certification in field.
