The Department of Pharmaceutical at the Faculty of Live Sciences announces a position for a senior scientist on the topic of Nanobiotechnology, imaging and molecular biology.

The position is currently limited to 6 months with the possibility of extension as a permanent contract.

We are currently looking for a senior scientist with a strong background in Biotechnology and / or related fields. The area of work comprises the technical and administrative support of research projects at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, MMCT research lab (work group Prof Manfred Ogris) with a focus on nanobiotechnology, imaging and molecular biology.

Carrying out active and independent research and publication of results in peer reviewed journals is expected. Teaching to the extent specified in the wage agreement has to be conducted.

  • Areas of research and technical support for methods including the relevant technical equipment are : Synthesis, biophysical and biological characterization of nanomaterials;
  • generation and characterization of nucleic acid vectors as reporter- and therapy constructs (incl. plasmid vectors); microscopy base methods (transmitted light, widefield fluorescence, confocal laser scanning microscopy, mammalian cell culture, histology, preclinical in vivo imaging and image analysis CT, optical tomography) We are currently looking for a senior scientist with a strong background in Biotechnology and / or related fields.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Doctorate in Biotechnology, Pharmacy or Chemistry; excellent knowledge in the area of nanobiotechnology and imaging, very good experience in supporting of diploma- and master students in lab work and thesis writing, publication track record in peer reviewed journals, excellent command of written and spoken English.

    Experience in geno- and phenotyping of transgenic reporter mouse strains, in vivo work on syngeneic and xenograft tumor models in mice
