The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Geodesy of Graz University of Technology seeks to appoint a full professor of
at the Institute of Geodesy, starting on October 1st 2022. The successful applicant will be appointed as professor on the basis of a private permanent employment contract according to Section 98 of the Austrian Universities Act ( 98 UG, Universitätsgesetz 2002).
We are seeking a candidate with an excellent international profile in current research areas in the field of remote sensing.
This includes SAR (synthetic aperture radar) -based remote sensing and optical remote sensing paired with digital image processing.
To strengthen the Faculty's focus on Change Monitoring of System Earth, emphasis is placed on the complementarity of the work areas to the research activities of the existing geodesy working groups, in particular satellite geodesy and engineering geodesy.
A further development of the research and teaching cooperation with the University of Graz (NAWI Graz) is also sought. We are looking for a personality with experience or great potential in the area of large-scale monitoring of geometric and radiometric changes of the earth's surface using remote sensing methods and the modelling of these changes through object-oriented classifications using modern evaluation methods such as artificial intelligence.
Areas of application include processes caused or intensified by climate change such as landslides, glacier movements or large-scale subsidence due to groundwater extraction or construction activities, as well as applications of remote sensing in an urban context.
We expect that the applicant is able to cover the field to its full extent at the bachelor, master and doctoral level within the Geodesy Studies and the master studies Geospatial Technologies and Space Sciences and Earth from Space in cooperation with University of Graz within the framework of the NAWI cooperation program.

Fluency in German or the willingness to acquire it is also expected.
