Evaluates final results of design assuring the accomplishment of technical objectives.

Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Technical Architecture Management jobs manage a team of Technical Architects who are responsible for specifying and designing solutions based on their technical expertise across one or more technology domains.

They provide guidance and assist their team of Technical Architects to ensure the successful overall technical design and build of the custom elements of the solution to meet a client’s business requirements.

Key roles and responsibilities :

  • Manage the team members of the Technical Architecture function effectively and within the required parameters set by Human Resources.
  • This includes hiring staff, setting team goals, and conducting performance reviews

  • Contribute to the vision, goals, and measures of success for the Technical Architecture team, recognizing the current team maturity and skills of the team members
  • Manage the assignment of resources to necessary priorities in order to meet client and business strategic needs
  • Coach / mentor and provide leadership to the team of Technical Architects and act as advisor and decision-maker in technical design and build situations
  • Guides on the appropriate selection and application of appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, consistent with the agreed enterprise and architectures and ensures that these are effectively applied and adopted
  • Guides the team in terms of successful implementation and execution of system solutions
  • Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of the team’s specialism(s) to the planning and operations processes
  • Contributes to the development of solution / technical architectures in a specific business, infrastructure, or functional areas
  • Provides necessary assistance / guidance regarding the scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization activities for small-scale changes and assists with more complex change initiatives
  • Provides necessary assistance / guidance regarding the pre-sales technical support and expertise in analyzing client requirements, in conjunction with the client’s current infrastructure, architecture, system capabilities, and business challenges
  • Provides the necessary assistance / guidance to lead the scope of work determination, product pricing, and RFP / RFI responses and assist with the decision to pursue or abort a deal
  • Knowledge, skills, and attributes

  • Ability to coach and mentor a highly technical and specialized team
  • Demonstrate broad product knowledge integrated with strong technology understanding
  • Good understanding of the vendor’s products, business, and technology positioning
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to establish and create excellent client relationships with their technical expertise
  • Ability to develop and leverage their knowledge of reference architectures
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of trends and development in technology domains
  • Knowledgeable in core frameworks used
  • Strong knowledge of the problem domain that their systems are to provide solutions for
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff
  • Academic qualifications and certifications :

  • Qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Certification and working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, SOA, ITIL, COBIT, etc.)
  • Relevant vendor and industry certifications, e.g. Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle,
  • Software and programming languages, e.g. C++
  • SAFe Scaled Agile certification advantageous
  • Experience required :

  • Proven track record managing a team of Technical Architects gained within an IT services environment
  • Proven client engagement and development consulting experience
  • Experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints
  • Proven experience in a variety of architectures for specific domain or specialization
  • Experienced designer and development know-how
  • Project management experience
  • Experience presenting technical solutions to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
