As a key member of Southern Management Corporation's (SMC) executive management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report to the CEO and will be responsible for the overall financial management of the company.
The CFO will have responsibility for planning, implementing and managing financial strategies in support of all enterprise and company activities to maximize stakeholder value.
The Accounting, Asset Management, Investor Relations and Information Technology teams will report to the CFO. Responsibilities Work with CEO to define the financial strategy for SMC and its portfolio of assetsAssist the CEO with significant financial transactions / deals in the negotiation and review of transaction documents including but not limited to loan documents, operating agreements and purchase / sale agreementsOversee asset management in the development and implementation of strategy for all properties to include valuation, return analysis, tax implications and cash flow projectionsDevelop, implement and manage SMC's treasury operations to mitigate its operational, financial and reputational riskRetain independent CPA firm to oversee and coordinate the preparation of timely and accurate partnership and corporate financial statements and tax returnsOversee the management of accounting function to ensure it properly processes SMC's day-to-day financial transactions, utilizes appropriate internal controls, and creates financial records that accurately document the operational and financial position of both SMC and its portfolio propertiesEnsure that appropriate financial reports (e.
g., budgets, financial forecasts, etc.) are produced, and facilitate the timely review and analysis of SMC's financial resultsImplement and ensure a robust system of internal controls that safeguards SMC's assets, ensures SMC's compliance with its obligations (e.
g. contractual, financial, regulatory, etc.), and minimizes the likelihood that errors will occur and go undetected; periodically audit the internal controls system to ensure it effectively and efficiently accomplishes the desired outcomesWork with other SMC leaders to identify and implement operational and managerial changes necessary to improve financial performance and maximize the value of portfolio propertiesEnhance finance operations, including management of ongoing debt requirements and covenantsEnsure compliance and timely reporting of financial and reporting covenants to lendersFoster, cultivate and maintain relationships with lenders, brokers and investorsEstablish, staff and oversee an investor relations function that facilitates timely and appropriate financial reports and communications with SMC's investors, produces consistent and relevant information to investors, and ensures that investors' questions / concerns are appropriately addressedManagement of the Information Technology Department, including recommendations for best in class technology to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
