For our R&D site in Salzburg area, Austria we are currently looking for a newly established position as Manager Software Engineering which will play a key role in of our strategic and innovation initiative for new product development.
The Manager Software Engineering role is a hands-on technical software engineering manager position responsible for software development of a set of Molecular Devices products and services.
You will be responsible for staffing and managing one of the software engineering teams, technically leading the team, driving team culture, sharing best practices with the other software teams, and working with other software managers to set the technical direction of products.
The Manager Software Engineering will manage an agile team in a continuous integration environment, delivering complex products with high quality and predictable schedules.
In this role you will have the technical integrity / expertise to lead the team, and passion in building simple but elegant software solutions and delivering customer-centric products.
Leadership, communication, prioritization and a focus on excellence are essential characteristics for this role.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage and lead a software development team to ensure software development efforts meet corporate quality objectives and launch targets.
Champion software development best practices within the larger software group including but not limited to : design, architecture, code re-use, performance, and quality.
Continuously appraise effectiveness of software development team through objective metrics for improvement
Prioritize, direct and appraise the activities of software engineers
Coordinate with project management, quality and product support management to ensure that the needs of all projects in the product line are met
Assist project and product management by providing technical insight and judgment of feature / schedule / cost trade-offs
Ensure that own development team adheres to the product architecture and technology decisions advocated by the Software Architectural review and agreed upon by the organization
Reviewing and planning teams work, taking corrective action where required
Ensuring team is compliant with company policies and processes.
Coaching, mentoring and developing team and supporting their continual professional development
Actively promotes and leads the use of Danaher Business System within own team through continuous development, integration and effective deployment
Responsibility for Health, Safety and Environment of own team
Takes responsibility for own personal development and knowing about the market and competition
All other responsibilities and / or other related duties as assigned
Person Specification :
The jobholder should possess the qualifications, experience and skills set out below to meet the requirements of the role as well as embrace the Danaher Values :
Appropriate Software Engineering qualification
7+ years of experience in the software industry
2+ years managing technical teams
A consistent record of building and managing a high performing engineering team
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
English, written and spoken to high standard. German language is desired, but not a requirement
A passion for people management, ability to motivate people to perform listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths and providing challenges, identify and resolve people conflicts
Highly computer literate, regular user of MS Office
Flexible and able to prioritize competing issues and deadlines
Be highly motivated with demonstrative management, interpersonal, relationship building, presentation and organizational skills
Excellent knowledge of .Net, C++, C# in a Windows development environment
Technically sound in software development and agile practices
Some domestic and international travel will be required to fulfill this role
Must have flexibility of working hours around worldwide time zones
Must maintain a valid passport and a permission to work in EU
