We are looking for support at the

Department of Marketing

Part-time, 30 hours / week

Starting October 01, 2022, and ending after 6 years

What to expect

  • Writing a dissertation : You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
  • You research will focus on academically and practically relevant questions related to charitable marketing, donor management, and prosocial consumer behavior.

  • Exciting Research Projects : You will work on exciting research projects in non-profit marketing. Our research collaborations with leading charities (e.
  • g. Red Cross, SOS Children's Villages) provide you with excellent data opportunities (e.g. historical donation data, field experiments, donor surveys) that can form the basis for a promising academic career in marketing.

  • Learning from top researchers : Right at the start of your scientific career, you will work with renowned researchers in your field and learn from them.
  • Recurring PhD seminars and top international research guests will help you to improve your ongoing research projects.

  • Knowledge dissemination : Make an impact by sharing your research insights with academics and practitioners. You will have an annual budget to visit international conferences.
  • Personal development : Advance your academic and personal skills through WU’s structured PhD program and qualification programs.
  • Teaching and student support : You will be planning and teaching courses yourself. You will be available to answer students’ questions, provide feedback on seminar papers, and act as a co-advisor for bachelor theses.
  • Organizational and administrative support : You will be supporting your academic unit with administrative and organizational tasks (e.
  • g., support in hosting a conference at WU, planning of a workshop with practice partners) and take part in the acquisition of third-party research funding.

    What you have to offer

  • Academic degree : You have completed your diploma / master's degree with a specialization in marketing, psychology, management, strategy & innovation, economics, data science or statistics with above-average success that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU at the time of taking up employment.
  • Analytical skills : You have above average skills in statistics and empirical research methods (evident from courses taken, theses, etc.
  • This includes analyzing data using advanced econometric methods and appropriate software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) as well designing robust experimental research studies.

    Experience in working with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics) and databases (e.g., using SQL) are an advantage.

  • Enthusiasm for teaching : You have the prerequisites for the development and implementation of excellent teaching at Bachelor and / or Master-level in marketing or marketing-related fields.
  • The willingness to use multimedia teaching and learning formats is a requirement and prior teaching experience is an asset (e.

    g. as a student assistant or tutor).

  • Intrinsic motivation : We look for an enthusiastic, curious team player, who is passionate about using marketing for social good.
  • You work independently, show initiative, are willing to take on responsibility, and have good self-organization skills.

  • Experience in non-profit marketing : Experience in marketing for non-profit or charitable organizations (e.g., through internships, student jobs) can be beneficial.
  • Communication skills : We expect you to have an excellent oral and written command of English and a strong international orientation / openness.
  • German language skills are not mandatory, but are an advantage.

  • The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,293.95 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience.
