Dematic is currently looking for a Supplier Development Engineer. This is an important role at Dematic, with the main objective of analyzing the current Dematic supplier base for high-risk and high-opportunity parts and developing them into reliable and valuable partners.
Given Dematic’s size and current growth trajectory, we are looking for someone to strategically and proactively understand our supply risk, choose targets wisely, and lead select suppliers to necessary levels of excellence.
Other responsibilities and accountabilities include :
Streamlining and optimizing operations with the Dematic supplier base to improve quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency
Using lean supply chain (inventory, lead time) and manufacturing / performance excellence principles (lean, quality systems, visual factory management, 5S)
Leveraging the following groups to wisely assess, select and develop supplier partner candidates : Global Procurement, Supplier Quality Assurance , Materials Management, and Engineering
Driving Supply Base Performance Excellence - Drive supplier capability and continuous improvement Plans and Actions in support of QDICC goals (quality, delivery, innovation, cost, cash)
Driving Supply Base Lean Excellence - Identify and lead special projects on a regional basis to reduce costs (quality / system improvement, lean / waste elimination, lean / cycle time reduction, VFM, Kaizen, lead time reduction)
Drive Supply Base Process Excellence - Support global category (commodity) managers in providing and executing common global supplier selection
Enable cross-functional Influence and Execution - Partner with multiple Dematic functions to understand their requirements and / or strategic needs, and execute same with strategic suppliers
What We Are Looking For
University degree, preferably in an engineering discipline with knowledge of lean, continuous improvement, kaizen and / or related CI tools
Proven history of leading and / or supporting the execution of lean supply chain principles, with quantifiable benefits
Proven history of leading change management initiatives across various disciplines (both internally and externally)
Demonstrable project work in the areas of performance excellence, lean transformation and / or capability improvement
Demonstrable past success in the area of trouble-shooting, whereas extremely complex problems within multi-departments and / or cross-functional areas are solved
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
Ability to use hard data and metrics to develop business case and support recommendations
Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically
Passion for process excellence and continuous improvement
Six Sigma / Lean Blackbelt and related technical certification (such as ASQ’s CQE, CQA, CQM) preferred
