At the Department of Christian History, Christian Art and Archaeology of the Protestant Theological Faculty at University of Vienna a positions of University assistants (post doc) is vacant, beginning the 15.

October 2020 (for 6 years).

Your responsibilities include active participation in research projects and publications. Expected is knowledge of the History of Protestantism in Austria and to prepare his or her own scientific work with the aim of a postdoctoral lecture qualification in church history as well as to apply for a third-party funded project within the scope of his or her own research.

Participation in relevant international conferences is encouraged. Independent teaching of evaluated courses as well as supervision of student affairs is possible within the scope of extant regulations of the Collective Agreement.

  • Cooperation in research and teaching - Participation in research projects - (International) publication and lecture activities - Preparation / completion of a (publication-ready) habilitation - Independent holding of courses to the extent provided for in Collective Agreement.

    Skills / Qualifications

    A university degree is required, preferably in Protestant Theology or in Teaching Protestant Religion, as well as a successfully completed dissertation.

    A great interest in Christianity in Late Antiquity, a willingness to attend national and international conferences as well as to work in a team and good skills in dealing with EDP are expected.

    Very good knowledge of Greek and Latin as well as good knowledge of modern foreign languages are required. - IT user skills - Ability to work in a team The first successful efforts to collaborate on research projects and to publish them in prestigious, subject-related places of publication are also expected.
