Within assigned authority, the Programme Management Officer will coordinate the implementation of the EU-funded Global Action to prevent and address trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants-
Asia and the Middle East covering Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan. The incumbent will work closely with the Project Coordinator, GLO.
ACT Asia and Middle East, HTMSS and designated senior staff. The position may require significant travel (20%). The incumbent will perform the following specific duties :
Has knowledge of policies and practices in international criminal justice and crime prevention, as well as the mandates of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Has knowledge of and specialization in substantive and functional areas with very good research and analytical skills. Has knowledge and experience in various research methodologies and sources.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, public administration or related area, is required.
A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, programme development / implementation in thematic areas relevant to UNODC’s mandate or related fields is required.
Experience in project formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning and exposure to international development cooperation is required.
Experience in crime prevention and criminal justice matters especially in relation to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants is required.
Experience in managing projects funded by the European Union is highly desirable.
Working experience with organizational management and processes is highly desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
