Job Description

The Information Software (IS) Technical Consultant provides pre-sales services to both internal and external customers focusing on the implementation and deployment of IS offerings.

The primary focus of the position is to support the IS Sales Team in working with our Customers on their Digital Transformation with Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Reporting to the IS Regional Manager Technical Consultants, in this position you will be providing pre-sales support (Technical and Architectural) to the IS Sales force and ensure a consistent and efficient handover to our delivery organization and by that help drive these engagements to a successful closure.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact and influence effectively across all levels of the company.

In addition, strong commercial, product / service / solution and application skills are necessary. This position requires moderate to extensive travel primarily within region but could include opportunities in our other global regions.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to RFIs and RFQs
  • Work with Rockwell sales representatives on sales strategies, plans and execution
  • Lead Discovery sessions to understand the customer’s technical needs, wants, analyze the gaps, and propose solutions.
  • Proactively engage with customers to define the overall technical approach for the proposed solutions
  • Communicate with customer IT representatives to understand customer IT infrastructure and policies and to present solutions that fit into customer IT environment
  • Present qualitative and quantitative value of the proposed solutions
  • Create custom presentations and documents that clearly state customer business problems and Rockwell solutions and benefits
  • Provide guidance to customers and implementers on ways to deploy proposed products including alternatives and their costs and benefits
  • Work with deployment teams (internal or partners) on deployment strategies and specific proposals as needed
  • Prepares technical materials, presentations, and tools to improve sales force effectiveness.
  • Serves as technical expert for pre-sale customers and internal events.

  • Assist with defining solution architectures and develop detailed design specifications
  • Help define functional requirements through known industry standards, documentation analysis and Workflow Process Mapping (Value Stream Maps)
  • Actively participate on a technical project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained
  • Ability to work with an ad-hoc team of individuals to meet a project goal.
  • Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Informational Technology, or another Technical Field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing environments implementing or maintaining Business Systems.
  • Strong all around industry knowledge - continuous and discrete
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (AB PLCs, SCADA, Historian, etc.)
  • Be able to work effectively and proficiently with the following : Microsoft SQL Server (Configuration and writing of SQL code)Cloud Computing (Microsoft Azure)Mobile Platforms and Devices (Windows Mobile, Apple iOS, Android)Visual Studio, SQL, PowerBI, OfficeProgramming experience in Java, JavaScripting, Python, R, C# or C++ or equivalentDistributed version control (Git)
