TU Wien is Austria's largest research and educational institution in the fields of technology and natural sciences. More than 4,000 scientists in eight faculties conduct research on "Technology for People" in five main research areas.
The content of the offered studies is based on this excellent research. The more than 27,000 students in the 55 studies offered benefit from this.

At the Institute of Construction, Structural Dynamics and Building Technology of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TU Wien, the position of a University Professor for the specialist field of Building Construction and Building Preservation with permanent (full-time) contractual employment is to be filled as of 1st October 2021 .
This is a professorship regulated by 98 of the 2002 Universities Act (UG).
The position as professor for Building Construction and Building Preservation has been allocated in TU Wien’s development plan to the following TU Focal Areas of Research : Materials and Matter, Energy and Environment, - Additional Fields of Research : Urban and Regional Transformation.
The further development of classical design and construction theory in building construction depends on impulses from building practice as well as from scientific research.
Innovative design and construction principles using new materials and technologies require the integration of findings from basic research, responsible use of existing resources, and technology-supported planning and manufacturing processes.
Increasingly, questions of preservation and refurbishment of the existing building stock are coming to the fore.
The professorship is intended to fill and further develop the research area of structural engineering and building preservation in the subject areas of integrality and interdisciplinarity, circular economy & zero emission, digitalization & life cycle as well as construction in the existing building stock.
For the development of research foci around topics such as innovative building structures, technology-supported planning and manufacturing processes of supporting structures and building constructions as well as the resource-efficient planning, building and renovation of building structures, the research unit has its own laboratory area in the laboratory center of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The embedding of the professorship in an excellent environment at an institute with the further research units of Integral Construction Planning and Industrial Building and Building Technology (Smart Buildings) as well as the desired close cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at TU Wien requires a holistic approach in the sense of "architectural engineering" from the future holder of the position.
In addition to research, the duties of a university professor at TU Wien also include teaching in Bachelor, Master and PhD programs as well as collaboration in the management of the institute and the faculty.
The teaching duties include subjects of building construction, structural engineering and building preservation in particular.
