  • We seek to fill a full time position as Research Assistant (three years) / PhD at the Electric Drives and Machines Institute at Graz University of Technology, Austria;
  • in close cooperation with Nidec Global Appliance Austria GmbH, the expert in advanced compressor technologies. NIDEC GA creates and supports solutions that set the performance standard for leading businesses around the world.

    The work shall focus on frequency-converter based drives for household compressor applications. It will be part of the European project Green Ice 2025, in which Nidec Global Appliance Austria GmbH is developing a highly efficient, variable speed compressor for use in household appliances with special consideration of the requirements of global energy labeling at its Fürstenfeld site.

    A new, highly modern laboratory and a research oriented international working environment will be at his / her disposal.

    Requirements : Completed master degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics.

    Payment at least € 2 971.50 / month (14 x year) according to the Austrian wage agreement (Kollektivvertrag); 40 hours / week.

    We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications : Experience with experimental laboratory as well as theoretical work, using analytic and numerical techniques, including simulation programs.

    Experience with electric machines, their driving electronics, and their control is highly desirable. Furthermore, we expect the candidate to show a high degree of self-initiative and an inherent curiosity for engineering and interdisciplinary questions.

    The position includes the possibility to pursue a PhD.
