The Institute for Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) and the Gregor Mendel Institute of Molecular Plant Biology (GMI) were both founded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).
The aim of GMI is to provide excellence in plant molecular biology therefore it deals as the only international center for basic plant research in Austria and belongs to one of the very few throughout the world.
IMBA - Institute of Molecular Biotechnology is one of the leading biomedical research institutes in Europe focusing on cutting-edge functional genomics and stem cell technologies.
Both institutes are located at the Vienna BioCenter, a dynamic cluster of research institutes, universities, and biotech companies.

As of now we are looking for an experienced and dedicated candidate to join the team as
h3. *Head of Communications & Partnerships (f / m / x)*
YOUR FUTURE ROLE*
Responsibility for the overall communications (external, internal, crisis) and marketing strategy for GMI and IMBA aligned with interests of the shareholder (ÖAW) and the Vienna BioCenter
Representative of both institutes including stakeholder management : communications with decision makers politics, ministries, sponsors)
Act as press officer for relevant institute topics
Managing and guiding the team including personnel development
Strategic positioning of the directorate vis-à-vis external stakeholders and national science policy
Actively advising and supporting of the directorate in media positioning and communication policy matters; especially during visits & (media) appointments
Project planning, tracking and evaluation to ensure continued improvement in the communications practice
Further development of the funding committee : gaining sponsors and supporters for the research activities of the institutes
Preparation & monitoring of the budget, regular reporting activities
University degree in Communications, Marketing or a similar qualification
Scientific background is an asset
Proven work experience as Head of Communications in a similar environment (strong networks within Life Science in Austria) including leadership competence
Excellent communicator : able to communicate at all levels, strong interpersonal skills
Pro-active and passionate personality, self-motivated and flexible
Structured and well-organized way of working, high resilience
Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)

The compensation of this position consists of a gross annual salary of € or more depending on your previous experience. The willingness to overpayment according to your qualifications and work experience is of course given.
