The Research Group CSLEARN - Educational Technologies at the Faculty of Computer Science (University of Vienna) pursues interdisciplinary research combining methods and theories from Education, Learning and Social Sciences, Human-Centered Computing, Learning Analytics, and Machine Learning in order to investigate open problems in teaching and learning of Computer Science Education while creating potential technological solutions within educational settings in general.
Amongst multiple research engagements, one line of teaching activities within the group is specifically dedicated to pre-service Teacher Education in Computer Science.
We offer a diverse and challenging position addressing candidates who seek to pursue a post doctorate in one of the research fields of the group.
While participating in the activities of the group, the candidate will have opportunity to be responsible for his*her own research projects, grant applications, and teaching courses and further develop his*her own academic research profile.
The candidate will be able to access the national and international professional network of the group while sharing his*her own experiences with doctoral students of the group and providing new insights for the group’s pursuit of activities.
The position furthers the post-doctoral stage of a career to be potentially continued in academic, administrational or business related fields of Computer Science Education and Educational Technologies.

Required Research Experiences
Skills / Qualifications
Doctoral degree / PhD and Master’s (or equivalent) degree related to the research field of the group by the expected start date.
Preferably, this would be : Computer Science / Informatics, Computer Science Education and related Teacher Education (in K-12 / secondary education), Learning Analytics with Machine Learning, or Educational Technologies focusing on Human-Centered-Computing.
Additionally, we encourage strongly candidates to apply with a thorough background in Learning Sciences, Pedagogical or Educational Psychology including Computer Science as minor subject or strong readiness to Computer Science, particularly programming.
Candidates bring a strong interest and commitment to the research field of the group. They find it exciting to investigate questions of teaching and learning Computer Science by combining techniques, methods, and theories from social sciences, Psychology, Education, Machine Learning, and Learning Analytics and to create educational technology solutions and / or to contribute new insights to research.
Candidates are willing to engage in teaching and mentoring of students and to pursue leadership in research and teaching projects as well as educational outreach events of the group.
We expect proficient speaking and writing English skills. Basic German language skills or a strong commitment to adopt German within the first years are also strongly favored.
