SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages.

As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights.

We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.


The mission of the Finance and Controlling function is to enable transparency, accountability as well as the efficient and proper use of funds in the Federation.

The Accounting Coordinator will contribute to this mission by :

  • Ensuring that accounting transactions are accurately recorded in the financial books of SOS Children s Villages International (SOS CVI)
  • Setting up accounting processes and processing accounting transactions related to the international funds allocation through the Shared Treasury Services team
  • Supporting the improvement of day-to-day accounting processes and the implementation of ERP solutions
  • Supporting the preparation of the SOS CVI consolidated annual financial reports
  • Tasks and Responsibilities

    Day-to-day accounting and internal controls

  • Performing day-to-day accounting activities for SOS CVI Austria locations
  • Follow-up intercompany activities within SOS CVI among Austrian office and regional offices
  • Performing day-to-day accounting activities for Shared Treasury Services
  • Annual financial reporting

  • Support the preparation of financial data for SOS CVI Austria offices for the annual external financial audit
  • Support the preparation of the SOS CVI consolidated global financial statements
  • Support the preparation of the annual report on financial transactions by Shared Treasury Services
  • ERP system implementation

  • Support the system implementation for SOS CVI Austria offices including system rollout and localization
  • Requirements

  • Accounting degree from a Commercial Academy (HAK) or university degree in Finance or Business Administration with major in Accounting
  • Previous work experience in the field of Accounting, preferably in a multinational environment
  • Understanding of Austrian statutory accounting requirements
  • Good knowledge of Finance-related IT systems and other related IT systems (mostly XLS)
  • Understanding of IFRS would be an advantage
  • Very good analytical and reporting skills
  • Fluent German language skills, good command of English language skills
  • A valid Austrian working permit or eligibility to work within the EU
