This position is located in the Global Technical Team (GTT) in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM), Vienna.
The incumbent reports to the gMeets / eAPG Team Lead.
Within delegated authority, the .Net Software Engineer will be responsible for the following duties :
Net, .Net Core, .Net Standard, C#, Visual Studio, MS Reporting Services, Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, Azure DevOps, Azure Cloud, Git.
Net, Asp.Net Core, MVC, WebApi, OData, Autofac, Bootstrap, IdentityServer, PowerShell, C#, Azure SQL Database, Vue.js, Typescript, Entity Framework (ORM), Hangfire, Redis Cache, MediatR, Selenium Web Driver.
Knowledge of relevant programming language(s) and ability to use programming skills to develop information systems. Knowledge of system development workflow and document flow processes, ability to conduct research and gather information from a wide variety of standard and non-standard sources.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant additional post-secondary education is desirable.
A minimum of 7 years of hands on, daily experience in information systems analysis, programming, or software development is required.
A minimum of 7 years of hands on, daily experience in designing and developing web applications using C#, ASP.Net MVC, WebApi is required.
A minimum of 7 years of hands on, daily experience with MS SQL Server and Entity Framework (ORM) development and debugging is required.
A minimum of 5 years of daily hands-on practical experience with regular release using Agile development approaches such as SCRUM or Kanban is required.
A minimum of 3 years of hands on, daily experience in Autofac, OData, MediatR, MS Reporting Services is required. A minimum of 3 years of hands on, daily experience in designing and developing web applications using C#, ASP.Net Core is required.
A minimum of 2 years daily hands-on experience in participating as a team member of geo / time zone distributed development team member is required.
A minimum of 2 years of hands on, daily experience in designing and developing web applications using Vue.js and Typescript is required.
A minimum of 2 years of hands on, daily experience in Git source control is required.
A minimum of 2 years of hands on, daily experience in developing applications hosted in Microsoft Azure Cloud Services is required.
A minimum of 2 years of hands on, daily experience with Azure DevOps setting up, maintenance and enhancements of build and release pipelines is required.
A minimum of 2 years of hands on, daily experience with Azure DevOps Service is required.
A minimum of 1 year of hands on, daily experience in Selenium Web Driver is required. A minimum of 1 year of hands on, daily experience with Azure SQL databases development, debugging is required.
Experience with Hangfire, Bootstrap, IdentityServer, Powershell and Redis Cache is desirable.
Daily hands-on practical experience with developing software for Prince2 based projects is desirable
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
The initial appointment will be for a period of one year and any extension of appointment will be subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval or extension of the mandate.
Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat.

Having passed the Administrative Support Assessment Test in English at the United Nations headquarters, Economic Commission for Africa, Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, United Nations Office at Geneva, United Nations Office at Vienna, International criminal tribunal for Rwanda or International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia may be accepted in lieu of the GGST.
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country.
A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.
Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
